Caching since 2012, started dating Liz after the 2022 mega and we married in 2025. Likes railways, spreadsheets and longish walks, preferably flat. Dislikes camping, but will when forced.
Most likely to say: "Hotels are better."
I started caching sometime ago. How many have I found? Couldn't tell you... I don't really do numbers and stats and I've never deliberately looked at my JASMER grid. Why? Because nothing on this planet is made more fun by adding maths to it!
Most likely to say: "Yeah... Yeah, I think I've got it stuck."
I started Geocaching in 2012, found one, then promptly forgot about it for two and a half years until Gaz (GarthVader101) and I were chatting one day and he said he was off out Geocaching, had I heard of it? Funnily enough, I had!
So, I joined him and another couple of mates and went out for the day. Since then, I've never looked back.
A few years later, after getting divorced, I met Becky at an event, some months later after meeting to go geocaching together, we started seeing each other and now live together. You find some great things while geocaching.
Most likely to say: "It's a bread roll!"
Caching as Dobunnis since 2005 with Helen.
First few caches were with paper map and compass but soon "upgraded" to a Garmin Foretrex then an eTrex, both of which we still have. Caching has taken me to many "out of the way" places that could easily be passed by.
Along with caching I'm often out on hills catching radio waves. Carrying a "fishing pole" gets loads of questions!
Most likely to say: "Log to follow"
Caching as Dobunnis since 2005 with Carolyn.
When we started there were less than 6000 caches in the whole of the UK, so after the first few finds, we had to travel far and wide. Then there were camping events and not long after we decided a tent was not going to be good enough anymore so we got a campervan.
Our holidays normally revolve around caching or climbing hills and mountains so we either tour from home or hire a car and trek off into the wilderness.
Most likely to say: "No, I can't find it"
Loves being out in the countryside listening to the birds and searching for Tupperware. Met my other half 3BearsUK through geocaching. Also loves trains and heavy metal! Likely to be found staring at the floor looking for fungi!
Most likely to say: "It's a cob!"
Usually found either up a hill somewhere, or lurking in the nerd cave and plotting mayhem. Likes long days, big hills, cold camps and great views, to the point of once being described by a colleague as "a purveyor of the backwoods".
Most likely to say: "Come on, it's only another 20km walk, it'll be fun!"
